Lords host OCAA men’s baseball championship

Updated: Nov 3, 2019

Durham College is hosting the 2019 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) men’s baseball championship starting Friday.

The series of six games will be played on DC’s home field, Kinsmen Stadium in Oshawa, through to Saturday, when the bronze and gold medal games will be played.

The first game between the Humber Hawks (13-5 in the regular season) and Seneca Sting (10-8) is Friday at 11 a.m. The Durham Lords (12-6) play at 1:30 p.m. against the St.Clair Saints (13-5).

A second set of games follows Friday at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., depending on the outcomes of the first two games.

Durham Lords men’s baseball coach, Sam Dempster is pleased his team doesn’t need to travel.

“The great part is we play on our own home park, that’s the best part,” he said.

Humber won the championship last year.

The bronze medal game is 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by the gold medal game at 1 p.m.
